Bavettes Chicago

Bavettes Chicago

We gave Bavette’s another shot—and I’m glad we did. On the first visit, we loved the vibe—dim, cozy, downstairs lounge energy with a supper-club edge—but walked away underwhelmed by the food. It wasn’t bad, just didn’t hit the level of expectation that came with the hype.

But on the second visit? They completely redeemed themselves.

What We Ordered

We started with the wedge salad, and honestly—it might’ve been one of the best wedge salads we’ve ever had. Crisp, balanced, dressed perfectly.

From there we split a ribeye, roast chicken, and fries. Everything was spot on. The ribeye was juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly right. The chicken was surprisingly standout—tender, flavorful, and not just a filler dish. And the fries? No notes.

The Verdict

The first visit left us on the fence. Great space, strong service, food that just didn’t land.

The second visit flipped the narrative. Everything came out right, and it reminded us why Bavette’s gets the love it does.

If it’s your first time, go in knowing it’s a vibe-forward spot where what you order really matters. But when they’re on, they’re on. This one earned its redemption.
